Filename Checker
Summary
Filename Checker is a powerful tool for checking and renaming filenames. For example, you can check the length of the filename (useful before burning a CD/DVD). There are many automatic renaming functions, and you can also use a custom text replacement filter. All operations can be applied to a (recursive) directory structure with a given file mask. Now you have the ultimate tool to organize your images, MP3s, etc.The checks: filename length (max 64 characters by default, adjustable; only reported), all characters uppercase or all lowercase (renamed to sentence case), extension must be lowercase, double spaces or underscores, and a number in brackets. The last one renames a sequence number in brackets, like Windows and browsers add to a duplicate name, to a number with leading zeros: Photo (3).jpg becomes Photo 03.jpg. Each check (except the length) can rename the files automatically. The results are shown in colors (no need to rename, has been renamed, needs to be renamed), with the reason in grey (the failed checks, or what has been changed). Right-click a file to rename it manually, delete it, open it or open its directory.
This version is a port of the original to .NET 10 for Windows 10 and 11.
Installation
If necessary, you will be prompted to install the required .NET Desktop Runtime when you launch the app. When you launch a newly released version, Windows may display a warning. If you see the message "Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting." you can click "More info" and then "Run anyway". Alternatively, open the properties of the .exe file and select the "Unblock" checkbox. Read more...Product:
